When Kayode Atoyebi moved to Canada, he brought ye

When Kayode Atoyebi moved to Canada, he brought years of international experience in construction—but getting started in a new country wasn’t easy.
That changed when he discovered the STEP program.
“STEP gave me the opportunity to begin an apprenticeship in plumbing with the goal of obtaining my Red Seal. They supported me with resume help, job search tips, safety training, and funding for tools and PPE. I’m absolutely grateful to be part of this laudable initiative.”
Now working in his trade, Kayode is growing his knowledge of Canadian code compliance and employer sponsorship and building a strong future in BC’s construction industry.

Now focusing on the construction industry, he’s passionate about helping participants explore career opportunities and find the perfect fit in the skilled trades.
When he’s not supporting STEP participants, Kris enjoys being a dad, spending quality time with family and friends, and catching a good game.
