Members of the STEP and BCCA teams are grateful to live, work, and be in relation with people from across many traditional and unceded territories, covering all regions of British Columbia. We are honoured to live on this land and are committed to reconciliation, decolonization, and building relationships in our communities. BCCA’s head office is located on the traditional and unceded territory of the lək̓ʷəŋən speaking peoples, today known as the Esquimalt and Songhees Nations.

We’re excited to welcome Sheryl, who joined STEP in May 2025. With a rich background in the trades, mining, safety, and communications, she brings a powerful mix of experience and heart to the team.
Sheryl started her career operating heavy equipment in Alberta’s oil and gas sector, later transitioning to safety and engagement roles in BC's mining industry. She’s a certified Construction Safety Officer (BCIT) and holds a TRU degree in Communications, Social Sciences, and Human Resources.
A strong advocate for equity, inclusion, and respectful relationships with Indigenous communities, Sheryl is deeply committed to creating safer, more inclusive workplaces. When she’s not working, you’ll find her exploring the outdoors, traveling, or hanging out with her rescue dog, Odie. 🐾
Join us in giving Sheryl a warm welcome to the team! 👋✨
